Lela Buckminster, 91, of Falls City, NE, passed away June 27, 2021 at Falls City. She was born August 1, 1929 at Falls City to George and Kelly (Burns) Wetzel.
She married Cecil Buckminster on July 28, 1945 at Hiawatha, KS. He passed away May 24, 2012.
Lela was raised in Falls City and attended Falls City Public Schools. She was a waitress at Moore’s Café and also worked Whitten’s Market, Safeway and Flarefold, retiring in 1992. She also worked at Falls City Lanes for 11 years. She lived in rural Richardson County until moving into Preston in 1962. She was a member of First Brethren Church.
Lela is survived by her daughters, Norma Jean Schuetz of Hiawatha, KS, Peggy Davidson and her husband Jim of Falls City, sons, Richard and his wife Jane, Marvin and his wife Sue both of Falls City, Marc and his wife Lori of Wahoo, NE, brother, George Wetzel and his wife Arlene of Los Angeles, sister, Lois Cameron of Falls City, ten grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband, brothers, Ray and Nelson Wetzel, grandchildren, Brian and Ricky Joe Buckminster, and Paula Hartley.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Pastor Ben Moore officiating. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
