Samuel Brzon, 89, of Falls City, NE, passed away August 17, 2020, in Falls City. He was born November 30, 1930, at Pawnee City, NE to Sam and Josephine (Tlustos) Brzon.
He married Betty J. Bauman on November 21, 1959, in Falls City. She passed away on September 13, 2017.
Sam enlisted in the U. S. Army on February 21, 1952, at Omaha, NE. He served in Korea as a front line medic, earning a Combat Medical Badge, Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on November 20, 1953, at Camp Carson, CO and then served in the Army Reserves.
Sam was raised in Pawnee City and graduated from Pawnee City High School in 1950. He farmed with his father for a few years until he entered the U. S. Army. When discharged he returned and when married the couple established their home at Falls City and he worked for Falls City Creamery until becoming employed as a grinder operator for Falls City Meat Company. He retired in 1992. He was a member of the First Christian Church.
Sam is survived by his daughter, Marcia Harmon and her husband Leland of Falls City, sister, Helen Anderson of Pawnee City, granddaughter, Samantha Harmon of Hurst, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Arthur, sisters, Rose Ann Good and a Shera in infancy, and half-brother, Emil Jilek.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2020, at 10:30 AM at First Christian Church with Reverend Fay Ann Blaylock officiating. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery. Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard. Attendees are encouraged to wear a mask for church services.
Open visitation and viewing will begin on Thursday afternoon until 7:00 PM and Friday morning until 8:00 PM.
