Leota May (Trimmer) Uhri

Leota May (Trimmer) Uhri, 95, of Table Rock, was born on February 9, 1923, to Bert and Selena Matilda Mae (Lewis) Trimmer in Humboldt.  She was raised in Humboldt and graduated from Humboldt High School with the class of 1940.  She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Peru State College and a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.  During her lifetime, Leota lived in several different states, as well as Canada and Puerto Rico.  She taught school in Tecumseh, Pawnee City, Table Rock, and Puerto Rico.  Leota was united in marriage to Robert Uhri in Humboldt.  To this union four children were born: Carolyn “Sue,” Robert “Bob,” Bill and Meri Lou.

Leota was an excellent seamstress and loved to travel.  She was able to travel the United States, Canada, Europe and some of South America.  Leota belonged to the Rebekah’s Lodge, Table Rock American Legion Auxiliary, Table Rock Historical Society and was Regent of Reavis Ashley Daughters of the American Revolution.  Leota was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Table Rock where she was President of Church Council and recently received her 75-year pin.  

Leota passed away on Monday, February 4, 2019, at the Community Medical Center in Falls City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Bill and Bob Uhri, Dr. Robert Uhri; brothers Bert and Arthur Trimmer; sisters: Joyce Storbeck, Edna Alderman, and Mary Olson; brothers-in-law: John Kosteka and Lawrence “Ole” Olson.

Leota is survived by her daughters: Carolyn “Sue” Rottman of Juniata, NE; Meri Lou Guenther of Lincoln; grandchildren: Lisa (Tim) Dworak of Seward, NE; Cara (Kurt) Fisher of Juniata, NE; Mark (Lisa K.) of Dawson; Ellen (Matt) Tilghman of Lincoln; Aaron (Crystal) Guenther of Lincoln; Brandon Guenther of Lincoln; Jason (Angelyn) Guenther of Humboldt; great-grandchildren: Jordan Fisher of Hastings, NE; Mercedes Fisher of Lincoln; Alexis and Jenna Fisher of Juniata, NE; Madison and Mason Tilghman of Lincoln; Matt Dworak of Wymore, NE; Michael Dworak of Lincoln; Megan Dworak of Wayne, NE; Tyler and Jodie Uhri of Dawson; Abraham, Alexander, Noah and Isaac Guenther all of Lincoln; Ewan, Wyatt and Maylee Guenther of Humboldt; daughter-in-law Jackie Uhri of Stella; brother-in-law Ed Storbeck of Coos Bay, OR; Art Alderman of Table Rock; sister-in-law Rhea Trimmer of Pawnee City, and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at the United Methodist Church in Table Rock with Pastor Dorothy Smith officiating.

Visitation was from 1:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2019, at the United Methodist Church in Table Rock.  Family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 pm at the church.

Interment was at the Mound (Prospect) Cemetery in rural Humboldt.

Memorial contributions may be given to the family’s choice with a later designation.
