Maryann M. Faller

Maryann M. Faller, 91, of Hiawatha, died Saturday morning, September 22, 2018, at Maple Heights Nursing Home where she had been a resident for over a month.

She was born at Falls City, May 29, 1927, one of five children born to the late Herman and Rosa Bauman Niemeyer.  She grew up in Falls City where she attended school, where she later graduated high school.

She was a long time member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Falls City.  Upon moving to Hiawatha over ten years ago, she became a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Hiawatha, where she a member of the Altar Society.  Maryann enjoyed quilting, baking cookies, birthday and wedding cakes, bingo, gardening, loved her plants and flowers, Royals baseball games, and through the years, participated in a bowling league. 

Maryann married Albert H. Faller, October 16, 1947, at the Catholic Church in Falls City.  They lived on a farm 9 miles NE of Falls City for 48 years when they retired and moved to town.  He died December 22, 2000.  A few years after his death, Maryann moved to Hiawatha to make her home.

Survivors include a daughter Linda Sanders (Dale) of Berryton, KS; two sons: Stephen Faller (Debra) of Kansas City, MO, Richard Faller of Hiawatha; sisters:  Helen Goltz of Rulo, NE, Rosemary Smith of Claremore, OK, Rita Dunavan of Hiawatha; three granddaughters; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Maryann was also preceded in death by a brother Leonard Niemeyer.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Falls City, NE, at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 25.  Fathers Dan Gardner and Tom Dunavan will be the celebrants.  

Interment followed at the Church Cemetery.

The parish rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Monday evening, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home followed by the family visiting with friends.
