Margaret (Sailors) Zentner

Margaret (Sailors) Zentner, 99, of Falls City,  was born on March 17, 1919, in Barada, to Raymond R. and Verda L. (Williamson) Sailors.  She attended grade school through the eighth grade in Barada and Falls City High School until the tenth grade.  Margaret then attended Verdon High School and graduated with the class of 1938.  On June 15, 1938, Margaret was united in marriage to Herbert Zentner at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Falls City.  To this union, two children, Melvin and Madalyne were born.  

The couple raised their family on a farm 12 miles northeast of Falls City where Margaret worked on the farm and was a homemaker.  She also worked at the sewing factory and the turkey plant in Falls City, but her family’s needs came first, and she was always ready to help wherever needed.  Margaret loved flowers and raised a big garden.  She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Thursday morning Coffee Club.  Margaret enjoyed fishing and hunting, but spending time with her family was her greatest love.

Margaret passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018, at the Falls City Healthcare Community in Falls City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Herbert, son Melvin, brothers Marvin and Dale Sailors, sisters: Eula Ramsey, Vera Cox, and Wilma Sailors, and great-great-grandson Easton Vonderschmidt.

Margaret is survived by her daughter Madalyne (Elden) Vonderschmidt of Falls City; daughter-in-law Jane Zentner of Rulo; grandchildren: Les Zentner and fiancé Stephanie of Rulo; Kevin (Connie) Vonderschmidt of Rulo; Kristi (Dan) Schawang of rural Falls City; great-grandchildren: Chance (Jamie), Seth (Emily) and  Clayton Vonderschmidt, Cody and Cade Schawang; great-great-grandchildren: Erison, Ellery, Elin, Nash, and Miley; and many special nieces, relatives and friends.

Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at the Steele Cemetery in Falls City, with Pastor Tim Boatright officiating.

Visitation will be from noon-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at the Hall Funeral Home, 2403 Harlan St. in Falls City.  Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the donor’s choice.
