Suzanne M. Swahn

Suzanne “Suzy” Marie Swahn, 62, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born on July 29, 1955 in Gordon, Nebraska to William and Willistine (Clark) Fankhauser.  The family moved to Sidney, Nebraska shortly after Suzy was born and she spent her younger years there.   After graduating from Sidney High School in 1972, Suzy enrolled at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she earned a degree in music education.  Her first teaching job was at Lyons, Nebraska, followed by a teaching job at Deaver, Wyoming.  As much as she loved Wyoming, Suzy listened to the Lord and moved to Deerfield, Illinois, where she enrolled at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.  It was there she earned her Masters of Divinity Degree.  While completing her pastoral internship at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Omaha, Suzy met her husband Craig.  It was there that Suzy and Craig were married on July 21, 1990 and then spent almost 28 years together serving the Lord.

Suzy was ordained by the Christian Church Disciples of Christ and pastored the First Christian Church of Humboldt, Nebraska; First Christian Church of Fairfield, Iowa and First Christian Church of Ottumwa, Iowa.  In 2017, she retired due to her health.  Suzy was a godly woman-a woman of integrity who was loved by so many.  More than anything, Pastor Suzy loved the Lord Jesus, and served Him to the very end of her life.   She was always an active member of her community and was a member of D.A.R. and P.E.O.  Suzy passed away on April 24, 2018 at the Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of 62 years, 8 months and 25 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Willistine “Willie” Fankhauser, her parents-in-law, Carl and Virginia Swahn and numerous aunts and uncles.
