Fred W. Thomas, age 93, of York, NE, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2018 at York. He was born May 1, 1924 in Sabetha, KS to William O. and Ethel (McNary) Thomas.
Fred served his country in the Navy during World War II. On Oct. 3, 1947 Fred was united in marriage to Melva Vice in Seneca, KS. He worked as an auto mechanic and truck driver for Paul Geis and Nelson Buick. He also owned T&B Automotive and Thomas Auto Repair. He was an avid reader, enjoyed bowling and playing volleyball, as well as working with electronics.
Fred is survived by his sons, Fred L. (Jean) Thomas of York, Phillip L. (Ruth E.) Thomas of Home, KS, Ronald (Kim) Thomas of Fairbury, NE, Warren (Laurie) Thomas of York and Ken (Cammy) Thomas of Galesville, WI. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, his son Paul, two brothers, two sisters, and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018 at the New Life Church of the Nazarene, York with the Reverend Dave Martelle officiating. Interment with Full Military Honors to follow at the Greenwood Cemetery, York. Visitation will be held from 1:00–8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018 at the mortuary in York.
