On Tuesday evening the Falls City Tiger boys basketball team hosted St. Joseph LeBlond. The Tigers got out to an early 17-14 lead after the first period and continued to lead at the half 27-23.
The two teams were even in the third quarter at 13 apiece and FC outscored LeBlond 17-14 in the final period to claim a 57-50 win and improve to 2-2 on the young season while the Eagles fell to 4-3.
The Tigers outshot the Eagles 45% to 38%. Both teams were even from behind the arc, hitting 6-16 attempts. FC hit seven more free throws (9-16) than the Eagles(2-8) which turned out to be the final margin of victory for Falls City. Falls City also almost doubled up LeBlond in the rebound department with 40 compared to 21 for St. Joe.
Falls City was led by Brandt Chapple, who finished the game with his second double-double of the season. Chapple led FC with 24 points, including three from downtown and 20 boards. Rudy Vrtiska added 11 points, four rebounds and two assists. Mason Crawford had a team high four assists to go along with four rebounds and six points.
Bishop LeBlond was led by Sean Davis with 20 points and Jack Harvey who finished with 17.
