THOMAS MATTER

Born on June 1, 1938 in Aurora, IL, Thomas C. Matter died at home at Salem on Dec. 31, 2016.

The son of Myron and Evelyn Matter, Tom was a man of few words but many loves. When other high school teens were enjoying after school sports and activities, Tom spent his time as a farmhand with the goal of having his own farm. He left Naperville, IL, for Nebraska to fulfill his dream. Tom loved his land and the hard work that went along with it. He especially loved his coonhounds and draft horses. Working alongside his team of Percherons, they prepared fields, planted, cultivated and harvested crops.

Tom loved wildlife and conservation and lived surrounded by animals and nature. Well read, Tom loved hunting with friends and good conversation. Tom loved his family and friends and he will be missed.

He was a member of the NRA, Wisconsin Bear Hunters, Michigan Bear Hunters Association, and the Black & Tan Coon Hunters.

He is survived by his brother, Gerald S. Matter; nephew, Troy M. Matter; and his nieces, Julie A. Matter Mutuc and Nancy E. Matter Holder.

The family offers a sincere “thank you” to Neal Parsons and Shawn Kaster “for their help and friendship to Tom and his family.”

A family farewell will be scheduled to celebrate Tom’s life. Cards can be sent to Julie Matter, P.O. Box 19202, Boulder, CO 80308.
