LOWELL J. KEITHLEY

Lowell Joseph Keithley, 83, passed away Oct. 10, 2016 at his home in rural Falls City. Lowell was born October 19th, 1932 to Emerson and Mildred Watton Keithley. He attended Fike Grade School and graduated from Falls City High School in 1950. He married Merilyn Vere Shafer at St. Anne’s Church in Shubert on June 21, 1952. Lowell and his wife lived on the family farm north of Falls City their entire married life. He was a member of the Falls City Elks Club for more than fifty years, served as president of the Maple Grove School Board for 36 years, and was a member of The Knights of Columbus, as well as St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Lowell was a life-long farmer, working beside his father, brother, and later his four sons. He was a hard-working, loving husband and a dedicated father of six.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Merilyn, five children, Ann (Brad) Albu of Falls City, Jon (Kathy) Keithley of Falls City, Frances (Edward) Finn of Omaha, Jeffrey (Denise) Keithley of Verdon, Joseph (Tiffany) Keithley of Falls City, daughter-in-law Michelle Keithley of Falls City, brother Leon Keithley of Verdon, brother-in-law John Huber of Falls City, 27 grand children, and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his youngest son Jerome, his sister Fern Huber, and sister-in-law Julia Keithley.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Falls City, Nebraska with Msgr. Robert Roh and Fr. Thomas Dunavan officiating. Interment will follow at St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery near Shubert, Nebraska. A Rosary will be recited at 8:00 PM Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Falls City. Family will greet friends following the rosary on Thursday and not at the funeral home on Friday. Public viewing will be from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Friday, October 14, 2016 at Hall Funeral Chapel in Falls City. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Falls City Sacred Heart School in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be left online at www.hallfuneral.net.
