Evelyn Kean, 84, of Dawson, passed away March 31, 2016 at Falls City. She was born Feb. 22, 1932 in Ottumwa, IA to Ewald and Margaret (Mahoney) Stegemann.
She graduated from Ottumwa Heights High School in 1950 and attended Ottumwa Heights College. She moved to Omaha where she met her husband Eugene at a dance. They were married in Ottumwa on August 24, 1957 and moved to the farm outside of Dawson where they continued to live.
Over the years she and Eugene traveled throughout the United States and to 24 countries around the world. She was strong in her faith and cherished spending time with her family and their close friends. She will be remembered for her baking cookies, sewing, hobbies, family car vacations, family gatherings and social time at the casinos. Evelyn was very active in the Dawson St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Altar Society.
Evelyn is survived by her husband of over 58 years, Joseph (Eugene); children, Kevin, Ann (Mike) Robinson, Mary Ellen and Dennis; siblings, Walter Stegemann and Marjorie Heckenberg; six grandchildren; Luke, Aaron, Molly, Seth, Sarah and Ashley and two great grandchildren.
She is proceeded is death by her parents Ewald and Margaret Stegemann; sisters, Mary, Doris Ann, Nancy and Frances, and brother; Gene.
The Family will receive friends on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at 2:00 pm followed by the rosary at 5:30 pm at the Dorr and Clark Funeral Home in Falls City.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Monday, April 4, 2016, 10:30 AM at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Dawson, with burial at St Mary’s Catholic Cemetery at Dawson and a reception will immediately follow at the parish hall. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Evelyn’s life. Fr. Kenneth Hoesing will officiate.
