GENEVIEVE ‘JENNY’ MARGRAVE

Genevieve “Jenny” Margrave, 86, of Falls City, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2016 at Lincoln.

Her funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 18, 2016 at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Rev. John Hogue officiating. Interment at Mount Hope Cemetery in Hiawatha, KS. Open visitation will begin Saturday afternoon at the funeral home. The family prefers memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church.

Jenny was born July 16, 1929 at Newton, KS, the daughter of the late Thomas and Linda (Weber) Gaines.

On May 19, 1966 she married William “Skeets” Margrave at Everest, KS. He passed away on Jan. 30, 1985.

Jenny was raised in the Newton area and graduated from high school in Walton, KS, in 1947. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education in 1951 from the University of Kansas, and in 1956 she earned a Master of Education in Business from University of Wyoming. She taught high school in Fairview and Robinson, KS, for 15 years before marriage. When married, the couple established their home on Margrave Ranch, southeast of Falls City. After her husband’s death she continued to manage the farm, retiring in 1999.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women at Falls City, and was a past president and vice president, district officer of the Southeastern District of Nebraska. She was also past president of FFF Extension Club, a member of RSVP, SENCA and Richardson County Historical Society.

Jenny is survived by a nephew, Tom (Kathy) Clark, of El Dorado, KS; and a niece, Carol (Jared) Olcott, of Temple, TX;

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Velma Clark.
