Betty Rose Johnson, 88, of Falls City, passed away on Dec. 29, 2015 at Falls City. She was born on Feb. 26, 1927 at Cherryvale, KS, to the late Joseph and Mary (Garcia) Fernandez.
Betty Rose was raised at Cherryvale and moved to Kansas City, MO, to live with her sister in 1943. She was a waitress and also worked as a clerk in a drug store. On Oct. 5, 1953 she married Virgil Johnson at Lenexa, KS. She retired in 1972 after 23 years. The couple moved to Falls City in 1993 and lived here since.
She was preceded in death by her parents; seven sisters and six brothers.
She is survived by her husband, Virgil, of Falls City; sons, Richard (Chris) Van Buskirk, of Grandview, MO, and Virgil (Rochelle) Johnson, Jr., of Fairway, KS; daughters, Victoria (Emil) Baer, of Topeka, KS, and Georgia Ann (Louis) Cloughley, of Roeland Park, KS; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016 at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Fr. Thomas Dunavan officiating. Interment at Steele Cemetery.
