CHERYL MCDOWELL

Cheryl McDowell, 63, of Falls City, passed away Oct. 25, 2015. She was born on Dec. 7, 1951 at Humboldt to the late Everett and Dorothy Mae (Vanoy) McDowell.
Cheryl graduated high school in 1970 and had worked at Ewing’s Salvage Yard, Pizza Hut, was a butcher and stock person at Whitten’s Market, projectionist at the Breezy Hills Drive-in and Oil City Movie Theatre, Clerk at G & H Hardware and from 1972 until 2004 she was employed at Jim Hill’s Paint and Glass in Falls City. She enjoyed painting, beading, cooking, fishing, hunting, bingo, attending Brownville concerts, BBQ and smoking meats. She was a blacksmith at Indian Cave State Park and also a historian for St. DeRoin, Barada, Brownville and Dawson and participated in the Living History at Indian Cave.
She was a member of Pioneer Longrifle Muzzleloaders Black Powder Gun Club. She had served as vice president, secretary and range officer.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jerry, Nephew, Michael McDowell and a great-nephew, Dwayne Peacock
She is survived by brother, Alan McDowell, nieces: Ivy (Jamie) Gresham, Ida (Dwayne) Peacock, Sherry (Bobby) Gresham; 15 great-nieces and nephews; a great-great-nephew; Elaine (Ernie) Craig; sister-in-law: Julie Marteny, and many close and dear friends.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Indian Cave State Park, Nebraska at the Pioneer Longrifle Muzzle Loaders Gun Range with Eleanor Last officiating. Park Fees will be waived for service attendees.
