WILLIAM ‘BILL’ RICHARDSON

William “Bill” Richardson, 71, of Alexandria, MN, died on Monday, July 13, 2015 after a 13-year battle with cancer. He was born on July 8, 1944 in Verdon, the son of Jess and Florence (Hall) Richardson.

He was raised in the Verdon area and graduated from Dawson-Verdon High School. Bill began working for Burlington Truck Lines. On April 4, 1964 Bill was united in marriage to Glenda Edelman. The couple made their home in Lincoln, where they began raising a family; they were blessed with two children, Steve and Kari. Bill went to work for Northland Irrigation as a farm irrigation serviceman. Northland became Town & Country and later West Central Irrigation. In 1974 his work brought him and his family to Big Lake, MN and, two years later, to Alexandria. Due to health concerns, he retired from West Central Irrigation in 2011.

Bill enjoyed summer fishing and loved the time spent fishing with his grandchildren. Bill also liked to go hunting; especially hunting pheasant with his son. He and Glenda traveled extensively throughout the U.S. Bill’s other interest included bird-watching and visiting farms; throughout his career he enjoyed the time he spent visiting with farmers and being on their farms. Most special to Bill was the time he spent with friends, his grandchildren his children and with Glenda.

Bill is survived by his wife, Glenda; son, Steve Richardson, of Villard, MN; daughter, Kari (Brian) Klingman, of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Trent (Ashley) Klingman, and Katie Klingman; and sisters, Eleanor Last, of Falls City, and Ann Liberty, of Verdon.
