REV. MARVIN D. NEUBAUER

Former Falls City United Methodist Church Pastor Rev. Marvin D. Neubauer, 57, of Norfolk, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015 at his home. Marvin was born Jan. 18, 1958, in Osmond, the son of Delmer and Doris (Lingenfelter) Neubauer.

He was raised in Osmond and graduated from Osmond High School in 1976. Marvin received his bachelor’s degree from Westmar College in LeMars, IA, in 1981. He continued his education at St. Paul School of Theology, where he earned his Masters of Divinity in 1988. He was ordained as an Elder in the United Methodist Church in 1990.

Rev. Neubauer served Admire-Allen-Millers, in Kansas, and Alliance-Lakeside, Hastings First, Bushnell-Kimball-Potter, and Wahoo-Ithaca in Nebraska. He was also the Director of Camping & Youth Ministries in the Dakotas Conference. He returned to Nebraska to serve in Rulo and Springfield, in addition to Falls City. At the time of his death, Rev. Neubauer was District Superintendent of the Elkhorn Valley District of the Great Plains Conference in which he provided oversight, supervision and Missional strategies to 64 Methodist congregations.

On Dec. 29, 1990, Rev. Neubauer married his wife, Sue, in Alliance.

He is survived by his father; wife; son, William Neubauer, of Lincoln; daughter, Jennifer (Mjr. Sean) Lewis, of Mildenhall, England; and daughter, Katie (Rodney) Smith, of Wylie, TX; three granddaughters, Madison Lewis, and Olivia and Victoria Smith; sister, Ann (Gary) Steckelberg, of Norfolk; brother-in-law, Warren Schwanebeck, of Monroe, NE; father-in-law, Robert Luse, of Aurora, CO; sister-in-law, Jacquie Hall, of Brighton, CO; brother-in-law, Jim Luse, of Aurora.

He was preceded in death by his mother; sister, Janet Schwanebeck; mother-in-law, Doris Luse; and brother-in-law, Mike Luse.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 21, at First United Methodist Church in Norfolk. Bishop Scott J. Jones, Rev. Dustin Petz and Rev. Shelly Petz officiated. Burial will be in the Osmond City Cemetery.
