Falls City Sacred Heart’s thrilling 57-53 double-overtime win over Parkview Christian Thursday in Auburn sets up a Class D2-1 District Final against Exeter-Milligan at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Beatrice High School.
The loser, regardless, is in a good position for one of two state tournament wildcard berths, as the 18-6 Timberwolves and 19-6 Irish are 4th and 5th, respectively, in today’s wildcard point standings, and Nos. 1, 2 and 3 (Bancroft-Rosalie, Wilcox and Minatare) won their respective subdistricts and enter Tuesday District Finals as favorites.
That’s not to say Tuesday’s game in Beatrice will be without drama: It was the Timberwolves who ended FC Sacred Heart’s football season on a frigid afternoon back in November.
