EVELYN GATZ

Evelyn Gatz, 90, of Falls City, passed away Friday, Feb. 13, 2015 at Falls City. She was born Dec. 8, 1924 at Falls City to the late Elmer and Amelia (Zimmerman) Scheitel.

Evelyn attended the Red Brick School house in District 53 as a child. She married Wesley Gatz at Hiawatha, KS, on May 8, 1944. He passed away Sept. 18, 2005. When married, the couple established their home northeast of Falls City. In 1955, they moved northwest of Falls City and lived there until moving into Falls City in 1999.

She was a lifetime member of Zion United Church of Christ, Women’s Fellowship of her church, past Sunday school teacher, past 4-H Extension board member, and a member of BPO Does Drove #56 of Falls City.

Evelyn is survived by her sons, Wayne (Sherry) Gatz, of Falls City, Larry (Vicky) Gatz, of Omaha, Dale Gatz and his husband, Anton Delgado, of Denver; and Glen Gatz and his partner, Rodney Thompson, of Kearney; brother, Marvin (Pat) Scheitel, of Falls City; sister, Lucille (Ken) Yoesel, of Sabetha, KS; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; great-grandchild, Darius Schulenberg; husband; and a brother, Wilbur Scheitel.

Evelyn’s funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015 at Zion United Church of Christ, with Rev. Fay Ann Blaylock officiating. Interment will be in the Zion United Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Monday at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
