RALPH W. PETERS

Ralph Peters, 94, of Auburn, formerly of Falls City, passed away Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015 at Auburn. He was born March 2, 1920 at Falls City to the late Jacob and Nellie (Mitchell) Peters.

Ralph enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on Oct. 16, 1941 at Ft. Leavenworth, KS. He served in the Rhineland and Central Europe and earned European, African and Middle Easter Service Medals. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 23, 1945 at Sioux Falls, SD.

He married Marjorie Nichols in August of 1943 at Oskaloosa, KS. They divorced in 1962. He then married Patricia Liggett on April 28, 1966 at Kansas City. They divorced in 1995.

Ralph was raised at Barada, graduated from Shubert High School in 1930 and took work in Lawrence, KS, for two years before enlisting. Upon being discharged, he returned to Topeka and worked for Good Year Tire Co. and as a route truck driver for Jordon Baker’s. He moved to Denver in 1951 and worked in sales in industrial laundry until moving to Kansas City where he continued in the industry until 1981. Ralph took employment at the Board of Trade Building until he retired in 1986. He moved to Falls City in 1994 and to Auburn in 2004.

Ralph was a member of Prairie Union Baptist Church and the 8th Air Force Historical Society.

He is survived by a son, Martin Peters, of Thornton, CO; daughter, Beth (Rick) McGeough, of Indianola, IA; grandson, Glenn Peters.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Ralph’s funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
