FREDA T. SHUBERT

Freda Thelma Shubert, 94, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Falls City Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born in Nemaha County, NE, on Aug. 22, 1919, to Earnest and Ethel Kennedy Stephens. Her parents moved to Shubert when she was three years old and Freda graduated from Shubert High School in 1937.
 
On Oct. 10, 1940, she married Claude Shubert and they established their home in Shubert. To this union two sons were born, Alan and Larry. She worked for the Postal Service for over 46 years — as a clerk for 20 years and in 1966 was promoted to Postmaster for 26 more years. She also worked at Home Lumber Company for her husband.

She is survived by her two sons, Alan (Bobbi Jo), of Shubert, and Larry (Kari) of Falls City; four grandchildren, Scott (Nicole) Shubert, of Shubert, Abby and Taylor Shubert, of Falls City, and Rachel Shubert, of Lincoln; four great grandchildren, Chelsi, Emma and Ben Shubert, of Shubert, and Aven Kearney, of Falls City; two sisters-in-law, Mary Shubert, Falls City and Elda Mae Shubert, of Independence, MO; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Shubert was preceded in death by her husband, Claude; her parents; sister, Bessie, Nebraska City; brothers, Vern, Tecumseh and Carl Dale, who died in infancy.

She was a member of the Shubert Christian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. Her hobby was making quilts for all her family members and several for the church auction. She also enjoyed raising African Violets.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2014 at the Shubert Christian Church, with Pastor Gene Rowell and Fayrene Kuker officiating. Interment will be in Prairie Union Cemetery.
 
Family will receive friends from 4-5 p.m. Sunday, July 20, at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home, Falls City.
