Wilma L. Heiser, 95, of Falls City, passed away Nov. 9, 2013 at Falls City. She was born March 28, 1918 in rural Falls City to the late Charles and Susie (Spring) Heiser.
Wilma attended Salem Public School and graduated from Salem High School in 1935. She then attended Peru State Teacher’s College, where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She did graduate work at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and Northwest Missouri State University at Maryville, MO.
She started her 46-year teaching career in 1938, teaching rural school in Richardson County for six years. The last 40 years were spent teaching in the elementary schools of Falls City. She retired in 1984. She was a member of First United Methodist Church at Falls City, where she belonged to the WSG circle. She was past president of Falls City Area Retired Teachers association, past president of Delta Kappa Gamma Society, member of Sorosis. She was honored with a life membership by North Elementary School P.T. A. and past president of Business and Professional Women’s organization.
Wilma is survived by her nieces, Susan (Leonard) Rieger, of Rulo, Doyleen (James) Richey, of Hiawatha, KS, nephew, Boyd (Vera) Wood, of Clovis, NM; five great-nieces, three great-nephews and 16 great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Dorothy Dunn and Fern Wood, and a nephew, Gary Dunn.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Lyle K. Schoen officiating. Interment in Steele Cemetery. Open visitation was Monday at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
