Velma “Rosalie” Ploeger

Velma “Rosalie” Ploeger, 93, of Hiawatha passed away Nov. 4, 2013 at Heartland Medical Center in St. Joseph, MO.  She was born Aug. 22, 1920 in Hiawatha, the only child of Hilding W. and Blanche F. Tabler Anderson.  

She was raised in the Hiawatha, KS and graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1938.

She married Warren Edward Ploeger on Dec. 16, 1938 in Marysville, KS.

Rosalie is survived by sons, Vincent D. (Jane) Ploeger, of Hiawatha, Warren L. (Vicki) Ploeger, Roger (Liz) Ploeger, both of Morrill, KS; a daughter, Rosalie Faye (Mark) Steele, of Morrill; a daughter-in-law, Vera Ploeger, of Falls City; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren, a son, Layne Arlen Ploeger, and a granddaughter, Tara Ploeger.

Funeral services were Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013 at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha. Pastor Shane Spangler of Bethany United Church of Christ officiated. Interment followed at the Morrill Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Tara Ploeger Memorial Scholarship, which benefits local students with two scholarships awarded each year for a college scholarship and a trade school scholarship, which may be sent in care of the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, 124 S. 7th St.  Hiawatha, KS  66434.
