Barbara (Campbell) Crabtree, 70, of Topeka, KS, passed away Oct. 2, 2013 at Rossville, KS. She was born June 9, 1943 at Reserve, KS, to Marvin “Punk” Sr. and Mildred (Dannecker) Campbell.
She married Ron Kirkendall in 1961. She later married Jackson Newby and, on June 25, 1992, married J.R. Crabtree.
Barbara was raised in Reserve and graduated from Reserve High School in 1961. She lived in Bartlesville, OK, Prairie Village, KS, and Kansas City, MO, before settling in Topeka.
She worked for KTNC Radio in Falls City and later at the KUDL/KMBZ radio station in Kansas City as Traffic Manager.
Barbara is survived by her husband, J.R. Crabtree, of Topeka, KS; son, Todd Kirkendall, of Warrensburg, MO; daughter, Jaclyn Newby of Topeka, KS; step children, Todd Crabtree, of Blue Springs, MO, Trent Crabtree, of Plattsburg, MO, and Tisha Crabtree, of Excelsior Springs, MO; eight grandchildren, four step-grandchildren; brothers, Marvin (Sonny) Campbell, of Falls City, John Campbell, of Hiawatha, KS, Doug Campbell of Colorado; and sisters, Linda Vogel, of Falls City, and Debbie Gray, of Springfield, MO.
She was preceded in death by her second husband, Jack Newby, and her daughter, Michelle (Kirkendall) Peterson.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at the George Ogden building in White Cloud, KS. No other services are planned.
The family requests that memorials be given to breastcancer.org. No visitation or viewing is scheduled.
