Lady Tigers, 2-12, look to rebound at Horton

Falls City High’s volleyball team fell to 2-12 on the season after dropping three road matches last week. FC fell to Plattsmouth, 22-25, 13-25 and 20-25, last Tuesday. Thursday, at a dual in Syaracuse, the Lady Tigers were defeated by the Class C-1 No. 6 and undefeated Rockets, 11-25, 21-25, and Nebraska City Lourdes, 18-25 and 18-25.

A bright spot for FC was the four-point loss in the second set against Syracuse, considering the Rockets have dropped just three sets all season and are one of only a dozen one loss teams in the state.

Senior Madison Olberding recorded five kills and seven digs in the loss to Syracuse. Junior Baylee Vrtiska and freshman Darcy Snethen handed out four and three assists, respectively.

Against Lourdes, Campbell finished 11-for-11 with seven points to lead the way. Sophomore Libby Bauman had a team-high five kills and Olberding finished with four kills. Vrtiska finished with 12 assists and 10 digs, both team highs.

Olberding and junior Maygan Ramsey finished with a team-high four kills each in the road loss to Plattsmouth last Tuesday. Snethen recorded 13 assists, while Bauman and freshman Alyssa Frederick each had six blocks against the Blue Devils. FC served well against Plattsmouth, connecting on 54-of-58 attempts (92.6 percent).

The Lady Tigers travel to Horton, KS, Thursday and to Tecumseh this Saturday for the Johnson County Central Invitational.
