HTRS now 8-4 after pair of home victories

Humboldt-TR-S improved to 8-4 on the season with a pair of home victories last week. HTRS defeated Lewiston, 25-11, 25-18 and 25-11, Thursday night after winning in three sets over College View, 25-12, 27-25 and 25-11, last Tuesday.

Ashton Nanninga, a junior for HTRS, served 17 points, including three aces, to lead the scoring against Lewiston, while sophomore Claire Svoboda pitched in 12 points and five team-high aces. Svoboda and senior Courtney Allen led the Lady Titans at the net with six and nine kills, respectively. Mollee Sharpe, a senior, recorded five kills, while seniors Kasey Kappel (19 assists) and Carmen Alexander (15 digs) also had solid games.

In the win over College View, Kappel handed out 25 assists, while sharing the scoring lead with Alexander with 11 points. The two combined for eight aces. Allen led the attack with eight kills and defensively, Allen and Alexander picked up 10 digs apiece.

The Lady Titans take the court tonight in one of their final two homes. HTRS hosts Fairbury for a dual this evening and then do not return home until Friday, Oct. 18th for a dual with Palmyra. HTRS will honor their seniors in that final home game. Stops between the final two home games include Saturday’s Johnson County Central Invite, a triangular at Pawnee City Oct. 10th and a triangular at Johnson-Brock Oct. 15th.
