Mary Walker

Mary Walker, 73, of Falls City, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013 at Falls City. She was born Dec. 18, 1939 at Griswold, IA, to the late John and Esther (Sexsmith) Selders.

On Oct. 24, 1957 she married Bruce Walker at Elm Creek.

Mary graduated from Elm Creek High School in 1957.When married the couple established their home in Grand Island, then moved to Pawnee City and, in 1963, they moved to Falls City. She was the activities director at Falls City Care Center and then owned the Inspiration House Christian Book Store in Falls City for 24 years. She also baked cakes for all occasions for many people.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Evening Circle and United Methodist Women of her church and the Joy Belles and church choir.

Mary is survived by her husband, Bruce, of Falls City; daughter, Linda (Eric) Cook, of Topeka, KS; sons, Brian (Cindy), of Hickman, Steven (Angela), of Colorado Springs, CO; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2013 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Lyle K. Schoen officiating. Interment will be prior to the service at 9:30 a.m. at Steele Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Sunday at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
