Darleen Marie Honea, 84, of Falls City, passed peacefully into Heaven on July12, 2013 at Falls City, surrounded by her family, under the tender care of the In-Home Hospice and the Falls City Care Center staff.
She was born Sept. 13, 1928 at St. Stephens near Fargo, NE to the late Leonard and Viola (Hogue) Buckminster and was raised in the Fargo area.
On March 11, 1952 she married Owen L. Honea at Falls City. They made their home in the Rulo area. In 1965 the couple moved into Rulo and then moved into Falls City in July 1987. Mr. Honea passed away on March 30, 2007.
She worked at Northview Care Center, (Falls City Care Center) for several years in laundry and house keeping until she retired. She loved gardening, birds, music and most of all her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Coonce and her husband Ronnie, Derby, KS, and Marva Honea and family friend and care giver Betty Harmon, Falls City; two grandsons, Noah Coonce and his wife Kelsey, Derby, KS, and Jacob Coonce and fiancé Andréa Voran, Wichita, KS; two sister-in-laws, Janice Carpenter and Lela Buckminster both of Falls City, and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Honea was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 55 years, sisters, Mary (Koenig) Ross and Erma (Karst) Sipes, and Vera Mae in infancy, brothers, Leonard Buckminster in WWII, Raymond Buckminster and Cecil Buckminster; Glen in childhood and Raphael in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Pastor Victor Haworth officiating. Interment will be in Rulo Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Monday at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
The family prefers memorial be made to family choice.
