Commissioners consider options for health coverage

Representatives of Benefit Management, Lincoln, met with the Richardson County Commissioners Tuesday, June 4, to review the outcome of the recent employee informational meeting regarding options for county employee health insurance coverage.

 

Also attending the session and asking questions were Clerk of the District Court Pam Scott, County Treasurer Austin Duerfeldt, Mona Godemann, administrative assistant in the Veterans Service Office, Tammie Beckner, Courthouse maintenance, and Ted Godemann.

The board will consider forming a committee of county officials and/or employees to gather information and review the options available for the county employee health insurance.

Eric Barr, Director of the Falls City Chamber of Commerce, met with board members Dave Sickel, Jim Davidson and Jim Standerford to request the use of Courthouse restroom facilities and the yard (to show an outdoor movie) during the Cobblestone Festival on Saturday, Aug. 24. Board members approved the request for restroom facilities from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and for the yard, but urged the Chamber to request that the City of Falls City make library restrooms available as well.

Board members moved to approve the quote from Pest Control Services of SE Nebraska at a cost of $35 per month.  Highway Supt. Scott Huppert provided a weekly update and said repairs to roads and tubes after recent storms and heavy rains are being made. Huppert said two part-time employees have been hired. A representative from Nebraska Machinery Co. reviewed options for repairing/overhauling a motor grader.
