Roy Milton Kouns, 90, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Northcare Hospice Care.
Roy was born July 17, 1922 in Falls City, the son of Clifford and Edna (Parsons) Kouns. He graduated from FC High School in 1940. He moved to Gladstone, MO from Des Moines, IA in 1968 with AT&T, where he retired in 1985.
Unable to serve during WWII he worked as a telegraph operator and switch man in Burlington, IA for the Burlington Railroad, which began his lifelong love of trains. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Cleo Hageman Kouns, of Diagonal, IA.
Survivors include: Two sisters, Edna Mae Neman, of Omaha, and Helen Ruth Vanous, of Denver; three daughters, Linda Hanson, of Las Vegas, Diane Pick, of Liberty, MO, and Michele “Micki” David, of Parkville, MO; six grandchildren; and two great-grand daughters.
A private family gathering was held to celebrate his life at Glenwood Cemetery, Basehor, KS.
