Irene E. Blecha

Irene E. Blecha, 94, of Falls City, passed away May 1, 2013 at Falls City. She was born Feb. 19, 1919 at Virginia, NE to the late Frank and Antonie (Vertrovsky) Penkava.
On Aug. 31, 1940 she married Arthur F. Blecha at Falls City. He passed away Feb. 16, 1991.
Irene lived with her parents and family in Burchard, Pawnee City and Table Rock. The couple established their home north of Table Rock when married, moving to Stella in l941, to Hamlin, KS in 1947 and to Falls City in 1990. 
She was a member of the Hamlin Homemaker’s Club.
Irene is survived by her daughter, Mildred Irene (Ronald) Gerdes, of Harlingen, TX; brothers, Lester Penkava of Omaha, Elmer (Dorothy) Penkava, of Table Rock, Alfred (Erma Jean) Penkava, of Beatrice; sisters, Helen Hoemann of Hiawatha, Elma Lee Buchholz of Table Rock; two granddaughters, and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Ray Allen (in infancy), four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home. Interment will be in Bohemian National Cemetery, west of Humboldt. Open visitation will begin Friday afternoon.
