Louis L. Manche

Louis L. Manche, 86, of rural Morrill, KS, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at The Pines in Hiawatha, KS.

 

He was born May 26, 1926, on the family farm near Salem, a son of Louis (Bud) and Jennie Wisdom Manche, and graduated from Honey Creek School in 1944.  He enlisted in the U.S. Army in August of 1944 and was honorably discharged in July of 1946.  Louis worked for the Nemaha Cooperative Creamery in Sabetha, KS, for a number of years.

 

He married Ruth Hartman on Nov. 14, 1948, at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Fairview, KS.  They farmed and operated a dairy farm and raised their family northwest of Morrill.  She died Nov. 9, 2004.

 

Louis was a long-time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairview, and a member of American Legion Post #322 in Fairview.

 

Survivors include his children, Dennis (Cindy) Manche, Hiawatha, Steven (Nancy) Manche, Morrill, and four grandchildren.

 

Preceding him in death were his parents, three sisters and two brothers.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Fairview, with the Rev. Michael Dunaway and the Rev. Quentin Nuttmann officiating.  Interment will follow at Albany Cemetery, north of Sabetha, with military honors a courtesy of American Legion Post #322, Fairview.

 

The family met friends Tuesday evening.
