Della M. Carpenter, 82, of Falls City, died Monday, April 15, 2013, at Falls City. She was born April 26, 1930, at Rich Hill, MO., to the late Luther and Ardella (Shockey) Moffet.
Della married Kenneth E. Carpenter on Jan. 19, 1950, at Mitchellville, IA. He passed away June 20, 1994.
Della was raised in the Rich Hill area until the age of 10 when she moved to Chariton, IA area with her parents and family. The couple established their home in Ankeny, IA when married and moved to the Falls City area in 1953. They lived at Preston when he passed away and she moved to Eastview Apartments soon thereafter; moving to Carriage Estates in 2005.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Falls City.
Survivers include sons, Alan (Helen) Carpenter, Salem, Wayne (Brigitte) Carpenter, Madison, S.D.; brother, Marvin (Dorothy) Moffet, Tucson, AZ; sisters, Rosie (Marvin) Shore, Chariton, IA, Carolyn (Robert) Burrell, Victor, IA; four grandsons; seven great-grandchildren.
Della was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two children, David (three years old) and Susan, in infancy; sister, Laverne Butler and one sister in infancy; two brothers, Harry Lee Moffet, and another in infancy.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the Maitland (MO) Cemetery, with Rev. Paul Weinert officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2013, at the Dorr & Clark Funeral Home in Falls City.
