Doris L. Chandler, 91, of Falls City, passed away March 20, 2013 at Falls City. She was born Feb. 2, 1922 at New York City to the late Ernesto and Louise (Ring) Casamello.
On Aug. 21, 1954 she married Lowell Chandler at Hollywood, CA.
Doris was raised in New York. She graduated from the Friends Academy at Locust Valley Long Island, NY in 1939. She later attended Vassar College and graduated from Hofstra University at Hempstead, Long Island, NY, in 1944. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in English. Doris did relations work in New York City before her marriage and then moved to California in 1949. There she worked for Trans American Occidental Life Insurance Co. as an Actuarial Technician in 1963 until retiring in August 1988. She moved to Falls City in September 1988.
She was a member of Mary Immaculate Queen Catholic Church at Omaha.
Doris is survived by her sons, Willard (Kathy), of Sunnyvale, CA, Thomas (Josephine), of Walnut Creek, CA; daughter, Rhoda Chandler, of Fairfield, CA; and three grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Mary Immaculate Queen Catholic Church, Omaha, with Fr. Gregory Drahman the presiding priest; interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Omaha.
The Rosary will be recited in Falls City at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.The Rosary will be recited in Omaha at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Mary Immaculate Queen Catholic Church, Omaha.
