Gerald “Bear” Scholl, 74, of Falls City, NE, passed away October 21, 2021 at Topeka, KS. He was born October 3, 1947 at Falls City to Benjamin and Anna Margaret (Lippold) Scholl.
He married Dessie Miller on March 18, 1972 at Rulo, NE.
Bear was raised at Barada and graduated Shubert High School in 1965, he then attended Peru State Teachers College for 3 ½ years. He left school following the death of his father to take care of the farm. He then went on to work for Frank Brewer and was also the Marshal of Rulo from 1974 until 1978 and then part time for the Falls City Police Department. He then became employed at Sur-Gro from 1975 until 1983 and also did custom fertilizer spreading. He purchased MFA Fertilizer plant in the fall of 1983 and it became Scholl Fertilizer, he retired in 2014 and devoted his time to the family farm. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Argo, Falls City Elks Lodge, NRA, was vice president of Falls City Riding Club and served on the advisory boards of AMCY and SOI.
Bear is survived by his wife, Dessie of Falls City, son, Benjamin of Falls City, daughter, Misty Voltmer of Falls City, brother, Dan and his wife Cathy of Falls City, sisters, Shirley Bauman of Falls City, Marcella Bauman and her husband Allan of Falls City, grandchildren, Rylee Scholl, Chaydyn and Drake Butler, Brody Scholl and Ashlee Voltmer. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wayne.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Rulo with Father David Oldham as the presiding priest. Interment will be in Falls City Catholic Cemetery.
A Parish Rosary will be held on Tuesday at 7:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with family receiving friends afterward.
Viewing will begin Monday afternoon.
