Madeline Elaine (Larsen) Shaw, 82 of Falls City, NE, passed away July 24, 2021 at Falls City. She and her twin brother Delmar were born August 18, 1938 at Falls City to Carl Janis and Mary Ollie (Boggess) Larsen. Their births completed the family of 4 children.
The family made their home in Salem, Nebraska. Tragedy struck when Madeline’s father was killed in an auto accident in 1940. As a result, the children were taken in by Mary’s brothers and sisters. Merle Boggess and his wife Maxine (Emmert) of Salem raised Madeline from age 18 months on.
She married Ernest E. Dodge and to this marriage had a daughter, Melody. They later divorced. Madeline married the love of her life of 44 years, Elmer Eugene “Gene” Shaw on June 15, 1971. He passed away July 26, 2015.
She graduated from Salem High School in 1957. After her marriage to Gene, they established their home in Salem. Madeline was a homemaker, an avid fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the city of Salem.
Madeline is survived by daughter Melody (Dodge) Stone and her husband Scott Wingard of St. Joseph, MO, step-daughters Debra Lebow of Maryville, MO and Jeanie Boerger of Lincoln, NE, step-son, Billie Shaw of Omaha, NE, sister Diana (Larsen) Mishler and her husband Fred, Fort Collins, Colorado, brother Delmar Larsen of Alaska and grandchildren, Hannah E. Stone of Kansas City, MO and Nicholas A. Stone of Overland Park, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gene, brother Carl J. “Pete” Larsen and step-daughter Christine Martin.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 10:30 A.M. at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home. Interment at Maple Cemetery at Salem.
