Howard W. Zimmerman, 93, of Falls City, NE, passed away April 26, 2021 at Falls City. He was born September 8, 1927 north of Preston, NE to Jacob and Amelia (Niemeyer) Zimmerman.
He married Mina Vogele on September 21, 1951 at Rulo, NE.
Howard was raised north of Preston. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp on February 26, 1946 at Ft. Leavenworth, KS and was honorably discharged on February 18, 1947 at Chanute Field, IL. When he returned from service and the couple married and they made their home on the farm north of Preston, where they lived for 10 years while he worked for Archer Petroleum Oil Company as a county manager. They moved to Monmouth, IL where he was promoted to district manager. In 1969 they moved to Marysville, KS where they opened and operated a Gambles Store until 1980. He then worked for Pamida/Gibson and Wheelers. Following his retirement, he drove a crew van for railroaders, moving to Falls City in 2012. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Howard is survived by his wife, Mina of Falls City, children, Michael and his wife Janine of Marysville, KS, Cindy Dummermuth and her husband Richard of Olathe, KS, sisters, Laura Kottich of Falls City and Burdeen Prater of Omaha, special family friend, Francis Feldhausen of Marysville, KS, granddaughters, Natalie Furniss and Angela Melvin and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Marvin and sisters, Margie Steinman and Janette Baumker.
His funeral will be held on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 10:30 AM at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Young Je Kim officiating. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
