The former Cooper Mills building on the south edge of Humboldt last Thursday morning caught fire for a third time. The building was fully engulfed in flames when members of the Humboldt Fire Dept. received the call shortly after 6 a.m. The fire smoldered throughout the day and into the weekend, though no one was injured and no other buildings suffered damage.
The landmark building, owned by Donald Stroud, of Ashland, is in in the process of being razed. Burlington Northern Railroad owns the land the building sits on, and train tracks are located just feet away. Train traffic has been disrupted in the days following the blaze.
The building will come down this week. Story developing.
