The Falls City High track teams competed at the ultra-competitive Scott Nisely Invite Thursday at Syracuse, facing Class B powers Beatrice, Norris and Crete.
The Tiger boys scored 20 1/2 points, which was ninth out of nine teams. Senior Lee Huettner scored the bulk of FC’s points, placing third in the long jump at 20-6 for six points. Jake Harms of Crete won the event with a jump of 21-9, followed by Jake Heitkamp of Beatrice, who went 20-11.5.
Huettner then scored eight with a runner-up finish in the triple jump, going 43-5, just 3 1/2 inches back from Heitkamp.
Senior Tucker Merz scored four points with a fourth-place finish in the discus. He threw 132-3, a couple feet back from Auburn’s Quintin Boden. Alec Cromer of Beatrice threw 152-8 to win.
The Lady Tigers scored 11 1/2 points, which was good for eighth, as Fairbury managed just five points all day. Lainey Larsen scored six in the two-mile, running 12:52.07. Murphy Sears of Crete ran 12:18.92 to win.
Krystal Samqua scored 2 1/3 points in pole vault, finishing in a three-way tie for fourth at 8-0.
