The Falls City Police Department continue to investigate an injury accident that occurred last Wednesday afternoon and stretched from the east end of town on Highway 159 to 14th and Fulton Streets.
According to the accident report, 34-year-old Timothy L. Wittwer was westbound on 14th St. in a Chevy S-10 pickup at around 4:40 p.m. when his vehicle was struck in the left, rear quarter panel by another vehicle driven by 19-year-old Phillip Doerr. Doerr was allegedly approaching town westbound on Highway 159 at a high rate of speed when he swerved to miss a welder that had fallen out of a pickup driven by Robert Fisher, who had allegedly been following Wittwer a few minutes earlier.
Doerr swerved around Fisher into the passing lane, then back into the driving lane and struck Wittwer near the intersection of 14th and Fulton. Both vehicles rolled and landed on their tops.
Doerr was cited for willful reckless driving, as was Fisher who was also ticketed for hauling an unsafe load.
Wittwer was transported to the Community Medical Center and then later to a Lincoln hospital for injuries to his back.
Doerr and Fisher are scheduled to appear July 29 in Richardson County Court.
