Omaha man arraigned on four felony counts in Richardson Couny District Court

A 41-year-old Omaha man was arraigned last Tuesday in Richardson County District Court on four felony charges in two separate cases.

Gregory M. Frederick plead not guilty to two counts of prohibited person in possession of a deadly weapon, possession of a controlled substance and carrying a concealed weapon.

Possession of a controlled substance and carrying a concealed weapon are each Class IV felonies, and possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person is a Class III felony.

If convicted a Class IV felony is punishable by a maximum five years imprisonment, $10,000 fine or both with no minimum requirement. Class III felonies carry a one-year minimum imprisonment with a maximum sentence of 20 years imprisonment, $25,000 fine or both.

A jury trial was scheduled for September 11. Frederick is free on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond.

Frederick, a convicted felon, was arrested on Feb. 27 by Falls City Police Officer James Wason, who initiated the traffic stop after he observed a vehicle with no taillights, traveling south on Harlan Street.

After Officer Wason made contact with Frederick, dispatch informed Wason that Frederick’s Nebraska Driver’s License was suspended and Frederick was placed under arrest for driving during suspension.

A search of the vehicle found a black handgun, a pair of buck knives, a broken glass pipe containing a white residue believed to be methamphetamine and several miscellaneous items, including an empty hydrocodone prescription bottle not belonging to Frederick.

Wason also discovered paper work addressed to Frederick, including a terms of probation document from Brown County, KS, a Douglas County, NE, appearance bond, and an Otoe County, NE, bond receipt.
