Humboldt-TR-S senior Scott Hammon took home a gold medal in the shot put at last Tuesday’s Lewiston Invitational in Pawnee City.
Hammon’s throw of 46 feet, 9.5 inches was more than one foot better than secondplace finisher Kody Benson of Sterling.
Sophomore Ben Railsback, who just recently began competing in track after breaking his hand wrestling, finished second in the pole vault with a height of 12-feet.
Overall the HTRS boys finished eighth out of 11 teams with 20 points. Falls City Sacred Heart was first with 92 points, while Wilber-Clatonia (85) and Freeman (84) were second and third, respectively.
Senior Liz Railsback finished in first place in the girls pole vault with a vault of 8-feet and Bailey Kuhlmann earned a fourth-place finish with a height of 7-feet. Taylor Schafer brought home a sixth-place finish for HTRS in the 800-meter run.
The Titans’ boys and girls 3200-meter relay teams finished in fifth and sixth, respectively.
