Tamara “Tammy” L. Ernst, 61, of rural Rulo, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025, at her home near Rulo. She was born on December 17, 1964, in Omaha, Nebraska to Lloyd D. and Marva L. (Lenz) Lewis. Tammy was raised in Omaha where she attended Mount View Elementary School and Monroe Junior High School. Tammy attended Benson High School in Omaha and graduated with the class of 1982. After graduating, she continued her education by attending Metro Community College for two years. While in high school, Tammy worked at AKSARBEN in Omaha.
Tammy had a passion and love for animals, especially dogs. She raised and trained many dogs over the years, and it was while she was herding trials for livestock where she met the love of her life, Eric. On May 2, 2009, Tammy was united in marriage to Eric Ernst at Zion United Church of Christ in rural Falls City. The couple made their home on a farm near Rulo. Tammy worked for many years as a purchasing agent for Community Medical Center in Falls City.
Tammy is survived by her loving husband Eric Ernst of Rulo, brothers: Daniel Lewis and his wife Carol of Omaha, Tim Lewis and his wife Susanne of Omaha, nephews Ryan and Zachary Lewis both of Omaha, brothers-in-law: Craig Ernst and his wife Cheri of Rulo, Bruce Ernst and his wife Jo of Rulo, and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Kerri Lynn Lewis, and brother-in-law Paul Ernst.
Tammy’s wishes were to be cremated with no services are planned at this time.
Visitation for Tammy will be held from noon-8 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the Hall Funeral Home, 2403 Harlan Street in Falls City. Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Richardson County Cancer Fund or to the Richardson County Humane Society.
