Richard “Dickie” Adams, 81, of Falls City, NE, passed away September 30, 2024 at Falls City. He was born August 16, 1943 at Dawson, NE to Robert and Alma (Lock) Adams.
He married Nancy Keller in 1960 and they were later divorced. He then married LouAnn Schawang on April 18, 1969 at Falls City.
Dickie was raised at Rulo and attended Reserve High School. He then worked at Frontier Homes. Dickie enlisted in the U. S. Navy on January 11, 1965. He earned a National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and a Vietnam Campaign Medal with device. He was honorably discharged on December 18, 1967 at San Diego, CA. When he was honorably discharged from the Navy, he returned to work for Frontier Homes, then for Missouri Beef Packers, then Rolfe’s Manufacturing. After working for Rolfe’s he attended Barber School and opened the Corner Clip Joint. He operated the barber shop from 1986 until 1996. He then became head of Maintenance at Midland Villa Nursing Home and then at Falls City Hospital. He retired from the Hospital in 2005. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Dickie is survived by his wife of 55 years, LouAnn of Falls City, children, Bobbie Jelinek of Falls City, Robin Steinberg and her husband Brian of DeWitt, NE, Rick and his wife Peg of Verdon, Annie Crofford and her husband Matt of Falls City, brothers, Tommy and his wife Judy of Falls City, Gary of Rulo, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, sisters, Lois Lunsford and Barb Liberty, brother, Sonny, daughter, Cindy Daniels and a great-granddaughter, Hazel Schutte in infancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Jim Meysenburg officiating. Interment will be in Rulo Cemetery with Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.
A Parish Rosary will be recited on Thursday at 7:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with family greeting friends afterwards.
