Todd Anthony Landis

Todd Anthony Landis, beloved father, motorcycle enthusiast, and the self-appointed neighborhood watch, has taken his final ride to the big open road in the sky. Born on January 14, 1964 to Linda Metschke and Carl Landis in Chicago, Illinois, Todd left us on July 16, 2024, at the age of 60, after one too many attempts at perfecting his wheelie technique. He graduated from McHenry High School in 1982 and served in the United States Air Force from 1985 until 1986.

Todd was known far and wide for his love of two things: riding motorcycles at breakneck speeds and his faithful companion, Dexter the dog. When he wasn’t cruising down the highway, he could be found playing fetch with Dexter or snooping on the neighbors with his trusty binoculars. He was the Sherlock Holmes of suburbia, always ready to uncover the latest backyard mystery.

Todd leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and a garage full of motorcycle parts that no one knows what to do with. He is preceded in death by his father, Carl Landis; his mother, Linda Metschke; his brother Tracy Landis; and his sister, Corrie Metschke-Banks.

He is survived by his smoking hot wife, Donna Landis; his daughters, Andrea Heisler (Dan), Rachelle Mound (Sean), and Sara Landis (Sebastian); his step-father, Dave Metschke; his siblings Alex Metschke, David Metschke (Jennifer), and Adam Metschke; grandchildren Kaitlyn Heisler, Ashley Heisler, Jax Mound, Isabella Carpenter, and Cassidy Bouwens; and, of course, Dexter, who promises to carry on the tradition of vigilant neighborhood patrols.

Todd is also survived by many dear nieces, nephews, in-laws, and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you install a neighborhood watch sign in his honor or donate to the Diabetes Action Research and Education Foundation. Todd wouldn’t want us to mourn, but to celebrate his life with the same zest and zeal he showed every day.

Ride on, Todd. May your new journey be filled with endless roads, tailwinds, and curious neighbors to keep an eye on.

The family of Todd Landis will receive friends Friday, August 2, 2022 from 6-8:00 PM. The visitation will not be on August 7th.

Friends may sign the guest register at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home during regular business hours.
