Nelle Pfister, 95, of Falls City, passed away June 23, 2024 at Falls City. She was born February 19, 1929 in rural Falls City to Don and Frieda “Fritz” (Kammerer) Runyan.
She married Wayne Pfister on September 3, 1949 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. He passed away May 25, 2013.
Nelle was raised in rural Falls City and graduated from Falls City High School in 1947. She then studied at Peru State College and became a teacher. She taught in rural schools for three years. When married, the couple established their home east of Barada and she became a home maker and farm wife. She loved her flowers, gardening, birds, sewing and quilting and square dancing. She was a member and very involved with St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and Treasure Seekers. She volunteered at the Historical Society and Heartland Fine Arts Gallery. She was well known for making her own wine called Whoa Nelle.
Nelle is survived by her children, Daryl and his wife Jane Marmet-Pfister, Tim and his wife Karen, Kerry and his wife Teresa and Susan Sailors and her husband John all of Falls City, 10 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, five foster-grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister at birth, brother and sister-in-law, Bud and Gertie Runyan.
Her memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 10:30 AM at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Mike Hader officiating. Inurnment will be in Williamsville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
