Thomas “Tom” Edward Frawley, 76, of Dawson, Nebraska was born on May 4, 1947 in Utica, New York to Patrick and Katherine (Johnson) Frawley. He was raised with his family in Hamilton, New York where he attended school and graduated from Hamilton High School with the class of 1966. The following fall Tom enlisted in the U.S. Navy and entered into active service in Hubbardsville, New York on September 29, 1966. He served his country during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged from active duty on June 30, 1970. After his service, Tom returned home and continued his education by attending Morrisville College in Morrisville, New York where he studied nursing. In 1977, Tom met his life-long partner LaDonna Spurgin in Council Bluffs, Iowa and the couple later married on November 21, 2005. The couple made their home in various towns in Nebraska before settling on a farm outside of Dawson in 1992. Tom owned and operated his own black Peterbilt semi-truck for many years working for various companies before retiring from trucking in 2013. Tom also loved to ride Harley Davidson motorcycles and owned many different bikes over the years.
Tom passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2023, at the Falls City, Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Falls City, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of seventy-six years, seven months, and twenty-seven days. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers: Steve, John (Cheryl), and David Frawley.
Tom is survived by his wife LaDonna Spurgin-Frawley of rural Dawson, NE; children: Rick Frawley and wife Barb of Morrisville, NY; Rick Spurgin and wife Mary Jo of Council Bluffs, IA; John Spurgin of Dawson, NE; Mara Manzer and husband Tim of Auburn, NE; Jesse Spurgin of Auburn, NE; Becky Carpenter and husband Ben of Phoenix, AZ; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his sister Kathy Frawley of Atlanta, GA; sister-in-law Tina Frawley of Hamilton, NY; and many other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the Wherry Mortuary, 207 N. Nemaha Street in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Howard Blecha officiating and military honors conducted by the Nebraska Naval Honor Guard. A live-stream broadcast of service will be held on our Wherry Mortuary/Monument Facebook page.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family’s choice with a later designation.
