Donald Clark, 92, of Falls City, NE, passed away July 16, 2023 at Falls City. He was born December 7, 1930 in rural Dawson, NE, to Isaac Leroy and Carrie Ellen (Conover) Clark.
He married Jean Ann Phillips on April 8, 1958 at Hiawatha, KS. She passed away in 2001. They made their home in Falls City.
Don was raised on the farm during the depression and he attended country schools. After the 8th grade his father died and he had to drop out of school to help his mother. He was drafted into the U. S. Marines on April 9, 1952 and worked on F80 fighter jet engines. He was honorable discharged on April 8, 1954. When he returned from service he farmed and worked as a police officer in Falls City from 1957 – 1969. He went on to retire from Southeast Nebraska Telecommunications Company after 37 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and big story telling. He was always ready to lend a hand if someone needed help.
Don is survived by his son, James Campbell and his wife Karol of Grand Prairie, TX, daughters, Carrie Clark and her husband Tony Legnon of Port Arthur, TX, Tracey Barnes and her husband Joey of Powhattan, KS, fourteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, children, Clayton Campbell and Nancy Heiser and a grandson, Joseph Campbell.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Steele Cemetery. Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.
Open viewing and visitation will begin Wednesday afternoon.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to either the John Wayne Cancer Foundation or the Southeast Nebraska Cancer Memorial Garden, Humboldt, NE.
