Helen Goltz, 91, of Rulo, NE, passed away March 29, 2023 at Lincoln, NE. She was born July 19, 1931 at Falls City, NE to Herman and Rosa (Bauman) Niemeyer.
Helen was raised in rural Falls City and attended country school, moving into Falls City, with her folks, in 1942, attending Sacred Heart School and finishing 7th and 8th grades and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1949. During her school years she kept very busy helping her dad clean the school and Gym, cleaning homes for several families, baby sitting and working as an usher at the movie theaters. Following graduation, she took employment at Baker’s Insurance in Falls City.
She married Donald Goltz on February 23, 1952 at Falls City. He passed away May 12, 2012. When her husband returned from two tours of duty in Japan while serving in the U. S. Army, they moved to a farm northeast of Falls City where they resided for 21 years. She was a homemaker and farm wife and kept busy raising her family and had a large garden. In 1975 they purchased the Oscar Castan farm where they resided for the rest of their lives. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, Altar Society and served on the Parish Council for many years. She also served on the election board since 1984.
Helen is survived by her sons, David and his wife Barb of Falls City, Robert and his wife Tammie of Corydon, IA, Tom and his wife Shannon of Rulo, daughters, Nancy Vollmer and her husband Rick of Rulo, Pat Weaver and her husband Mike of Falls City, Teresa Chandler and her husband Dennis of Rulo, sister, Rosemary Smith of Claremore, OK, sixteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Leonard Niemeyer, sisters, Maryann Faller and Rita Dunavan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 3, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Rulo with Father Ben Rynearson as the presiding priest. Interment will be in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.
A Parish Rosary will be recited on Sunday at 3:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral. The family will receive friends following the rosary at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
