Evalyn Fay Clancy

Evalyn Fay Clancy, 93, of formerly of Dawson, Nebraska was born on December 8, 1932, in Hayes County, Nebraska to Virgil and Charlotte (Bailey) Conboy. She attended school in Palisade until the age of eleven when her family moved to Curtis, Nebraska. Evalyn graduated from Curtis High School and then continued her education by attending classes at the University of Nebraska Lincoln Ag campus located at the time in Curtis, Nebraska.

On June 6, 1957, Evalyn was united in marriage to Cyril Cecil Clancy in Curtis, Nebraska.  To this union eight children, Charlotte “Josie”, Julie, Gregory “Greg”, Stephen “Steve”, Robert “Bob”, Mary, Patricia “Trish”, and Amy were born.  The couple raised their family in Dawson, Nebraska where Evalyn owned and operated the “Dawson Café” for many years.  After the café closed, Evalyn worked as a cook at Dawson-Verdon public schools in Dawson and Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt.  She also worked as a staff member for S.E.N.D.S. in Auburn.  Evalyn was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dawson and helped with many funeral luncheons and church activities over the years.

Evalyn went to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her family on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of ninety-three years and two months. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cyril Clancy, daughters Julie Pitchford and Charlotte “Josie” Taylor, grandson Lyle Halverson, great-grandson Ezekiel Metschke, and brothers: Virgil, Donald, and Edgar Conboy.

Evalyn is survived by her children: Greg Clancy and wife Pam of Belleville, KS; Steve Clancy and wife Cindy of Dawson, NE; Bob Clancy and wife Kim of Brookville, KS; Mary Clancy of Dawson, NE; Trish Eastman of Lincoln, NE; Amy Sanford and husband Darrell of Lincoln, NE; son-in-law Joe Taylor of Dawson, NE; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Rose Parli of Raleigh, NC; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.​

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 13, 2026, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dawson, Nebraska with Reverend Anthony Bedient officiating. Interment will immediately follow mass at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Dawson.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the Wherry Mortuary, 207 N. Nemaha Street in Humboldt.  A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dawson.  The family will greet friends after the rosary at the Parrish Hall.
