Bill was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, caring brother, and loyal friend. On May 19, 1979, he married the love of his life, Diana L. Null, in Sterling, Colorado. Together they shared 44 wonderful years of marriage, building a life rooted in love, hard work, and family.
Bill was born on May 5, 1955, in Falls City, Nebraska, to Lawrence and Betty (Olsen) Strecker. He grew up near the Missouri River, where he developed a lifelong love for fishing, boating, and outdoors often spending time on the water with family and his college friend, Ed Mez.
He attended school in Falls City, Nebraska, going to Catholic school from kindergarten through 11th grade, and graduating from Falls City High School. He later attended college in Milford, Nebraska, where he studied diesel mechanics.
After college, Bill moved to Colorado and began a long and dedicated career at Sonnenberg Cattle Company feedlot, where he worked for 27 years as a shop foreman, mechanic, and truck driver. After leaving Sonnenberg, Bill went into business for himself, working independently as a heavy equipment operator, mechanic, welder, electrician, and farmer. There truly wasn’t much he couldn’t fix.
Bill took great pride in providing for his family and for many years even did his own butchering to help feed them. He was known as a man of many trades, strong work ethic, and unwavering integrity. He was honest, straightforward, and always greeted others with a quick smile and a warm hello.
Above all else, Bill cherished his family. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life, as well as his children, friends, and extended family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, scuba diving, and being outdoors whenever he could.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Strecker; his mother, Betty Strecker; his brother, Allyn Strecker; his sister-in-law, Karen Strecker; and many dear friends and family members.
Bill is survived by his loving sons, William (Lynaia) Strecker and Patrick (Amanda) Strecker; and his grandchildren: Kyle, Shealynn, Kaiden, Andrew, Alysia, Marcus, and Ryan. He is also survived by his brother, Jerry Strecker of Iowa; his sisters, Linda (Harvey) Lile of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Marylynn Burnett of Wichita, Kansas; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Bill’s life, love, and legacy have left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. We will carry his memories in our hearts until we meet again.
